North American Land Company (PA) 1795. 10 shares. Issued to Bird Savage & Bird of London. No.2010. Counterfoil at left. VF+, qith some minor edge imperfections. Robert Morris signs as president; James Marshall as Secretary. Robert Morris was an American merchant, and a signer to the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the United States Constitution. He was the Chairman of the Pennsylvania Committee of Safety, and a member of the Second Continental Congress where he served as the Chairman of the Secret Committee. During the Revolutionary War he served as Superintendent of Finance, managing the economy of the fledgling United States, for which George Washington was eternally grateful. Unfortunately, he failed to manage his own finances well, and ended up in debtor's prison. North American Land Company was based on the concept that rich Europeans fleeing the French Revolution would buy land in Pennsylvania. A very popular piece of early American financial history.
