Elizabeth, the Queen Mother (1900-2002). Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon, wife of King George VI, mother of Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon. Autographed 8 x11 Black and White Signed "Elizabeth R 1957". The framed photo depicts a smiling Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother seated, holding an ornate handbag, the framer is identified on a label on the back as "Northern Glass Works Limited, King George Avenue, Ndola [Northern Rhodesia]". The signing, thus, would most likely have occurred during the Queen Mother's visit to Rhodesia and Nyasaland in 1957. Accompanied by a letter from Jennifer Gordon Lennox, Lady-in-Waiting to the Queen Mother, Clarence House, 1st May 2001, relaying her Majesty's sincere sympathy on the loss of recipient's mother, thanking him for his kindness for a book of poems by Robert Service, and discussing the signed 1957 photo.
