Fine German Court Sword with Neoclassical Motifs. By Johann Stroblberger, Munich, active ca. 1825. The blade by Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie, Solingen. Full length 35". Mother of pearl grip with gilt radiant crown, gilt hilt guard with winged head, guard ending in mouth of lion's head pommel. Gilt front sword guard, each end a lion's head, is adorned with a lion couchant. The straight, 29 7/8" blade etched, gilded and blued. Deep crowned head mark at ricasso. Leather scabbard with gilt fittings, on the back of the top is engraved the maker Johann Stroblberger München. A superb sword.
