Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Charles Dana Award, 1943. Awarded to Millard Sheets. Bronze, 59.8mm. Bust of Dana right, rev. Legend around high-relief escutcheon engraved to Sheets. Millard Owen Sheets (1907-1989), was a noted painter and representative of California Scene Painting, during World War II he was an artist-correspondent for "Life Magazine" and the U.S. Army Air Force in India and Burma, later a teacher, educational director and architectural designer.
