Harrison, Benjamin. 23rd President of the United States (1889-1893), prominent local attorney in Indianapolis, Senator from Indiana (1881-1887). Autograph Letter Signed "Benj Harrison". Three and three-quarter pages on Law Office of Harrison, Hines & Miller, Indianapolis letterhead, July 24, 1884. Harrison writes at length to "Hon. S. B. Elkins" (Stephen Benton Elkins, the West Virginia industrialist, later Secretary of War and Senator from WV). He notes that "New has arranged the difficulty with the Union Printers satisfactorily", "objection to him" has been removed, "he will no doubt remain at the head of our State Committee".
