Villa, Francisco "Pancho". One of the most prominent figures of the Mexican Revolution; Commander of the División del Norte in the Constitutionalist Army, helped oust President Victoriano Huerta, allied with Zapata against Carranza; raided U.S.-Mexico border forcing an unsuccessful nine-month US incursion under General Pershing; assassinated 1923. Typed Document Signed as General-in-Chief "Francisco Villa". One page, 8 ½ x 6 ¾", on División del Norte, General En Jefe letterhead, Chihuahua, Dec. 18, 1913. In purple type, Villa orders that "the warehouse keys of one Jesús Velarde be delivered to him". The order ends with 'LIBERTAD Y CONSTITUCION", city and date. Villa signs below in brown ink with his usual flourish. Accompanied by a cachet envelope with Francisco Villa's name, Liberty holding sword and scales, and the name of the small locale of Canutillo, Durango at left; and a contemporary B&W news photo of "Gral Francisco Villa". Document once folded in quarter, then into eighth. Fine.
