Santa Anna - Antonio de Padua María Severino López de Santa Anna y Pérez de Lebrón. Mexican politician, general, embodiment of the stereotypical caudillo, serving as President numerous times, "the Man of Destiny" dominated Mexican history for the first half of the 19th Century; an enigmatic, patriotic and controversial figure; his rhetoric and military failures lost Mexico half of its territory as an outcome of the Texan Revolution of 1836 and the Mexican Cession of 1848 following its defeat by the US in the Mexican-American War. Document Signed as General and President of Mexico: "Ant. Lopez Santa Anna". Three-page, folio, partially printed, April 25, 1835. The document is for the appointment of Francisco G. Coure as Army Colonel. Santa Anna signs below on the first page, embossed seal upper left. Signatures of various officials and officers on the second and third page. Stain in right margin. Otherwise a Fine document.
