Hamilton, Schuyler (1822-1903). Grandson of Alexander Hamilton, soldier, farmer and engineer; served with great gallantry in Mexican-American War, made Brigadier-General during the Civil War, then promoted to Major General (but the rank was never confirmed). Document signed "Schuyler Hamilton Late Maj. Genl." One page, 5 x 8", New York City, July 1, 1870. Hand-written document to pay Hamilton $600 charging the account of his son Schuyler Hamilton Jr. (a well-known architect). Revenue stamp below. Schuyler Sr. signs on verso. Small tear right margin. Very Good.
