An Historical Atlas, Containing Maps Of the World At Twenty-one Different Periods With a General View Of Universal History. Edward Quin. Published by R.B. Seeley and W. Burnside in London, 1830 copyright date. 4to; 21 folding plates. Quin's innovative design shows the world as viewed through openings in black clouds. The first map illustrates Eden. Subsequent maps display the Roman Empire, the discovery of the Americas, the Napoleonic conquests, etc. A true masterpiece of nineteenth-century printing that would be the show piece in any advanced collection of atlases. Bound with marbled boards. In very good condition: professionally re-backed, with a gilt and green spine. A very attractive example of this scarce and beautiful atlas.
