                        America nova Tabula. Willem Janszoom Blaeu. Amsterdam, ca. 1642. 21 ½ x 16", hand color. Latin text on verso. One of the most sought-after maps of the Americas from the Golden Age of Dutch cartography. Blaeu's work exemplifies fine engraving, color and excellent attention to details. Bordered on left and right by 10 depictions of indigenous peoples, vignettes of nine cities above; and embellished with sailing ships and sea monsters.
