U.S. 1840 Model Tiffany Cavalry Saber. Tiffany & Co., NY. Leather and wire grip, three-branched hilt, brass pommel and cap guard. 36" blade with narrow and wide fuller, iron scabbard with iron mountings. Characteristic Tiffany hilt and pommel of iron. 'TIFFANY & CO / NEW YORK and PDL ("Peter D. Luneschloss") on ricasso. Called the "Wrist Breaker", this saber saw extensively use by both the Union and the CSA during the Civil War. A very fine weapon.
