Great Britain. WWI-era Rifle Officer's Sword. 32 7/8" straight dumbbell-shaped blade with central fuller and spear point; brass proof disc stamped PROVED H at center of Solomonic Seal. Decorated on one side with crowned George V cipher and scrolling foliage, and a crowned bow-strung bugle on the other with scrollwork, numbered "6969" back edge of blade near basket. Plated steel, Gothic-style hilt with a cartouche with a crowned bow-strung bugle; black fishskin grip with copper /brass wire, brown leather, pinecone sword knot. Steel scabbard. Stored in carrying leather sheath. A fine sword, well preserved.
