Augereau, Charles Pierre François (1757-1816). First Duc de Castiglione, general and Marshal of France, fought in all of Napoleon's battles in 1796 with great distinction. Napoleon wrote of Augereau: "he has plenty of character, courage, firmness, activity; is inured to war, is well liked by the soldiery; is fortunate in his operations." Document Signed "Augereau". Four-page certificate in letter form for the 8th Brigade of Infantry, Floreal, An 4 or 5, concerning the service of Citizen Charles Pierre Debrous. A number of attestments, each with a flurry of various signatures, red wax seal page 3. Augereau signs in large hand on verso, blind stamp below. Fine. Accompanied by early 19th Century engraving (foxing) of Augereau with his signature. [2]
