U.S. 19th Century History. Trio of letters: 1) CSA. Love letter. 3 pp, Roswell, GA April 25, 1864. The author, possibly a CSA soldier, expresses a rollercoaster of a emotions and romantic musings concerning a breach and makeup with his beau of wife, and hopes of visiting her in Savannah. Includes mailing envelope sent "via Savannah!" with franked CSA 10 Cents Stamp addressed to "Miss Helen Barnwell Care of Capt. Geo P. Elliott, Grahamville S.C."; 2) Ship's captain missive and lament. One page, Bordeaux, 23 April, 1811, address verso: R, Hichborn, Boston Massachusetts. Bery notes he is happy Hichborn arrived safe in Boston, conditions are the same in Bordeaux - cargo cannot be sold, New Orleans packet is loading, the Telemachus will sail shortly, the white Havan sugars "we saw together" sold for a great price; 3) Juneau, Dodge Co., Wisconsin Attorney's letter regarding a deed and the state. One page - missing continuing page(s), May 19, 1851. Writing a George Riley of Rochester, NY, the attorney notes in length that he could find no information on the deed in question. He goes on to say that Riley's letter "brought over me a home like feeling…This is undoubtably a great state - fine climate and good soil - healthy and free - very free - abounding in enterprise - but then in a social point of view the population is motley & incongruous.."
