American Revolution: British Forces. 1776 Certificate of the Delivery of Provisions for his Majesty's Forces in North America. Folio, one page, 26 July, 1776. Henry Bunbury writing "May it Please your Lordships", refers to a certificate "for provisions delivered into his majesty's storehouses in Cork by John Durand Esq. Contractor for delivering provisions there for 3000 of his Majesty's forces serving under General Howe in North America." Bunbury has examined the certificate dated Cork, 25 June 1776 signed by Robert Gordon Commissary of provisions for "975 Barrels containing 273,000 pounds of Flour…" and "475 Sacks containing 228 Quarters and 4 Bushells of Pease. All which said provisions are certified to have been in good wholesome and sound condition and fit for his Majesty's service". The amount due is 3,656 Pounds and 4 Pence. Fine.
