World War II. Great Britain. British Pacific Fleet. Color Drawings of British and U.S. naval liaison interactions. A set of six finely drawn "lighter moments" vignettes by Norman Mackinson, Royal Marines, Orderly to Vice Admiral Sir H. Bernard Rawlings, British Pacific Fleet. Mackinson's father was an artist for the Wedgwood Company. Amusing depictions of a RAF and USAF pilot passing a bottle of coke and a bottle of whiskey to each other; USN brass visiting British ship; USN sailor foibles, etc. The drawings were presented to Lt. Commander Robert F. Morris, U.S.N., Comm. Liaison Officer upon his detachment from the 'H.M.S. King George V' in Tokyo Bay after the Japanese surrender ceremony of September 2, 1945. Framed, 16 ¼ x 27 1/3", Robert F. Morris' typed narrative and description on back. Some staining on matte and edges of some of the drawings.
