Interesting grouping of letters: 1) Letter dated Aug. 23, 1801 (1 ½ page, folio) from Hugues Bernard Maret, Duc de Bassano, member of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador to London and Naples, became Secretary of State after Napoleon's return from Egypt. Writing as Secretary of State, Maret addresses Secretary-General of the State Council, Locré on behalf of Gen. Marmont regarding his request for 3,333 Francs and 32 Centimes for his appointments while he was on military mission in Italy; 2) Order signed by Clement, Général de Brigade, Livorno 3 ventose An IX (Feb. 22, 1801) concerning the exportation of grain from Tuscany. One page, Armée d'Italie letterhead; 3) Ministry of War letter, Dec. 17, 1801, signed by Gassendi (Jean-Jacques, Comte. Major General) and others. 1 ½ page; 4) Letter written by and signed by Gen. Jean-François Dejean of Carcassone, as Director of War Administration. Several signatures; 6) Letter signed by Claude Ambroise Regnier (Duc de Massà, deputy of Nancy) on Ministry of Justice letterhead, dated 7 ventoise An XII. One page; 7) Letter signed by Munitionnaire-General and "Chief Grocer of the Empire" Vanlerberghe (one of the three "United Merchants). One page, dated March 3, 1804. Vanlerberghe is pleased by the work of the chief-agent for food supplies at the camp in Bayonne and assures him of a promotion; 8) One-page on Préfet de Police letterhead signed by Dubois, dated messidor An Dix.
