Mortier, Edouard Alphonse Casimir (1768-1835). Duc de Trévise, Marshal of France. Distinguished himself in the Army of the Rhine and under Massena in the Alps. Appointed by the First Consul, Commander of the First Military Division comprising Paris and surrounding départements. For his successful occupation of the Electorate of Hannover and his able administration, he was made a Marshal of France in 1804. Autograph Letter Signed. "Ed. Mortier" as Commander of the First Military Division. On First Division letterhead, dated June 25, 1802, one page. Addressing the Military Court of the 1st Division, Mortier sets the date for the trial of a veteran accused of leaving his post while on guard duty. Fine.
