Carnot, Lazare (1753-1823). French politician during the Revolution, Minister of War in 1800. Autograph Document Signed Carnot as Minister of War. One page, folio, dated Paris, July 8, 1800. République française letterhead. Addressing Citizen Lambert exactly six days after Napoleon's return from the campaign in Italy, Carnot informs him that the First Consul has nominated him Quartermaster General of the Reserve Army at Dijon (Lambert served as Napoleon's Quartermaster General at the beginning of the first Italian campaign in 1796). Clearly penned and attractive. Fine. Accompanied by a 19th Century engraving of Carnot. [2]
