Toulumne County Water Company (California) 1852. Columbia. Issued, cancelled. No.1258. A wonderful vignette of miners working sluice boxes down the entire face of a hill occupies the left end of this handsome certificate. While the title may sound uninteresting, water was the key to separating gold from ore using sluice boxes. Lithographed by Britton & Rey. VF+. There is a notation in light red ink that sates "Share No 128" on the back, and a light spindle cancellation at the center. The margins are a bit narrow, so not quite as nice as the previous lot, but still very desirable.
