Auction: 324 - The Numismatic Collector's Series Sale

Toulumne County Water Company (California) 1852. Columbia. Issued, cancelled. No.3894. A wonderful vignette of miners working sluice boxes down the entire face of a hill occupies the left end of this handsome certificate. While the title may sound uninteresting, water was the key to separating gold from ore using sluice boxes. Lithographed by Britton & Rey. VF+. There is a notation in light red ink that states "Share No 316" near the center, and a light spindle cancellation at the center. Comparatively bright and fresh, and the few issued examples we have seen are rarely found this nice.
