Mount Carbon Coal & Iron Company (Virginia) 1853. London. "TWENTY PARTS". Series B1222 No.24421 to 24440. A tree occupies the left end panel and extends upward into a panoramic view of mines, mountains and mills across the entire top of this very unusual certificate, payable to the bearer upon presentation. Chartered by the State of Virginia, these shares were sold in London, accounting for the distinctive British style of the certificate. This is the first one seen by this cataloger.
