1882 Pattern Liberty Nickel. Judd-1680, Pollock-1882. Rarity-6. Nickel. Plain Edge. PCGS PR66 CAM. Obverse: Bust of Liberty faces left. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around LIBERTY. 1882 below. The Liberty portrait is similar to that used on the regular issue Liberty nickel. Reverse: A large Roman numeral V surrounded by a wreath of corn and cotton. E PLURIBUS UNUM above. Light champagne iridescence graces the bright silver surfaces on both sides of this Gem Proof. The main devices exhibit some cameo contrast, but not quite enough for a full Cameo designation. The general appearance of the adopted 1883 Without CENTS nickel is clearly represented by this lovely pattern.
