U.S. Trio: 19th Century Shako. Bell-top, black felt body, patent leather top and peak. Small brass star on front, red and white tuft on top, brass bosses with bust of Washington suspend chin scales used as front piece, leather chin straps. Maker's tag (torn) inside: "Ri(dabock) & Co…65 Mad(ison Ave. NY). Scale sidepiece on right side broken off (included), scuff on top; Pair of cloth epaulettes. Blue with red trim and fringe, brass U.S. Union eagle button. Affixed tag claims them as American Artillery Civil War; "Cowpens"-style flag. 13 white stars on blue field, four red, three white stripes. Narrow and long, approx. 10 ¾ x 112". Possibly used for US Centennial or other celebration. Old inking on back of white grommets endpiece "Townend Bro. Est." Last two both excellent condition. Ex Hammatt Collection. [3]
