Ringling Brothers - Barnum & Bailey Combined Shows, Inc. (DE). 1970. No.SU286. 1000 shares. Blue. Issued, cancelled, thus quite scarce. The owners of the circus wanted to create spectacular certificates, but the practical cost of producing circus art on a multicolored engraved certificate was extravagant. A compromise was reached. American Bank Note Company supplied the engraved frames, and the circus provided the lithographed artwork. The resulting certificates were so attractive that when the company was sold to Mattel, many shareholders refused to give up their circus certificates. While blue SPECIMENS are available, fully issued blue Ringling certificates are quite scarce. VF+
