Alice Stone Blackwell (1857-1910) was a journalist, human rights advocate, and a strong supporter of women's suffrage. Her parents started The Woman's Rights Journal, and she began working for them, taking over after her mother died in 1893. The National American Woman Suffrage Association was the result of efforts by Blackwell to reconcile The American Woman Suffrage Association and the competing National Woman Suffrage Association.
