Hampton Whaling Company (New York) Dec. 1,1829. Sag Harbor. 2 shares, at $250 per share. Partly printed form signed by the treasurer, with multiple endorsements on the verso. Issued, uncancelled. Extremely Fine, quarter folded.
Whaling off the south shore of Long Island dates back to the 1700's. Sag Harbor was a U.S. Customs port, and a center for East Coast whaling, and is still home to one of the finest whaling museums in America.
