Solomon, Charles (1884-1933). Prohibition-era bootlegger and head of an organized crime syndicate. Solomon was one of the "Big Seven" present at the first major gangster conference in Atlantic City in 1927. Signed check. Boston, Mass. May 10, 1930. Drawn on The National Bank Shawmut Bank of Boston, payable to Security Mutual Life in the amount of $81.65. Accomplished in a secretarial hand and signed by Solomon. Small punch cancellations don't affect the signature. Solomon turned out to be a poor insurance risk - two years later he was murdered in the men's room of Boston's Cotton Club by rival gunman.
