March 1, 1829. To William Nicholson. Also includes an envelope addressed to Walter Scott, Esqr. The letter, lightly mounted to a mat, is foxed around the edges.

"Sir Walter Scott begs Mr. Nicholson will express to the gentlemen of the Scottish Academy Sir Walters sense of their politeness in offering him an opportunity of attending the promenade at their Exhibition. He regrets that leaving town he is unable to avail himself of their obliging invitation."
