Sandburg, Carl August (1878-1967). Writer, editor, poet who won three Pulitzer Prizes. Pair:1) 3" x 5" sepia photograph of Sandburg standing in front of Monticello, mounted on a dark gray card. "Henry Cox, give no good or better weather, Carl Sandburg." 2) TLS. 4vo. No date. 720 So. Kingsley Drive, Los Angeles, California. Some light foxing and soiling."Dear Batch, This is a long way from The Glass House but the betting is I will be along in The Glass House about the end of October, leaving here Oct,= 15 and being too proud to walk over the desert and the Rockies. Confidentially it looks as tho I am giving birth to a book and story that will have some kind of rebirth in a supercolossal[sic] picture hitting Broadway sometime in two or three years. The lustiest scene in it you have heard. It will be good to see you and hear the news and raid the icebox. Remember me to Ramone and Babs. Yrs, Carl. PS This doggone stationery don't mean a thing except I been coming to this house 20 years and they thought it would be nice for a transient to have paper like a permanent." [2]
