China. Eastern Zhou Dynasty. Spring and Autumn Period. Reclinate Shoulder, Curved Feet, Empty Hilt Spade Money, Sixth to Fourth Century BC. Chinese character "Wu", likely referring to the mint in Wu-An. These types were issued slightly later than the flat shoulder types (which display a different character "Wu") and were minted for circulation around the environs of the capital and adjoining kingdoms. Bold character and details. Very well preserved with the edges still sharp. Vivid green patina. Choice Extremely Fine, an excellent example.
