Rothschild correspondents on the West Coast: A fine group of bills of exchange (checks) from B.Davidson & Co. of San Francisco all on N.M. de Rothschild & Son printed forms comprising a 2nd of exchange to August Belmont in New York, 1856, another dated 1862 of different design; a 2nd of exchange addressed directly to Rothschild in London, 1863, another similar dated 1867, this tied with rare California 50 cent adhesive revenue stamp, and lastly another dated 1862 addressed to S.Bleichrode in Berlin; a cashiers check of B.Davidson & Co. San Francisco, 1878, payable to cash, with imprinted 2 cent revenue; together with a pair of 2nd of exchange bills drawn on the Bank of California in 1883, both addressed to Rothschild in London for various payments in sterling, a fine group illustrating the Rothschild business in the early days of California, generally very fine although the 4th is somewhat brittle and toned.
