The "King of Thule"/Elder seated l., blessing a kneeling boy and girl/Crowned Arms supported by Iceland's protective spirits; the first Norse permanent settler Ingólfur Arnarson standing facing/Art Deco dragon; Woman/Justice seated facing, holding aloft a torch/ Nordic cross quartering Iceland's landvættir - protective spirits: Gammur (the sea-eagle or griffin), Dreki (the dragon), Grithungur (the bull) and Bergrisi (the rock giant), who guarded the land from invasion by Harald Blatand ("Bluetooth") Gormsen of Denmark.
