Civil War: Collection of military correspondence and documents of and related to Colonel George H. Scott, 83rd Indiana Infantry 1863-1866. Quartermaster's receipts, War Dept. letters, HQ correspondence, a copy of General Orders No. 31 - Allowances for Officer's Pay, Scott's Marriage certificate (1865), 1866 Treasury Dept. receipts for the return of military equipment. George H. Scott (1829-1898) enlisted 8/22/1862 as a Sergeant and mustered into "H" Company, 83rd Indiana Infantry. He was transferred from "H" Co. to Field and Staff 7/10/1864, promoted to Colonel 5/1/1865 and mustered out 6/3/1865 at Washington, D.C. An interesting group worth closer inspection.
