Civil War. Pre-Hostilities. Trio of newspaper: "The Daily True Delta," New Orleans, March 19, 20 and 23, 1861. All 8 page, folio. The front page of the first relates the proceedings of the Louisiana and Arkansas Conventions and points to some confusion in Europe as to whether or not to recognize the Confederacy; the second offers more on the Louisiana convention, while page 2 reports on Jefferson Davis vetoing a proposed African Slave Bill calling it unconstitutional and prints his address to Congress; the last discusses indecision by the Lincoln administration regarding Fort Sumter - evacuate or not?, and reports that the Confederacy has sent commissioners to France and England to seek recognition. Age toning, some foxing and soiling, pages separating on second. Good-Very Good. [3]
