Harding, Warren Gamaliel. Twenty-ninth President of the United States (1921-1923); after graduating Ohio Central College purchased with partners the failing Marion Evening Star newspaper; by 1886 he was the sole owner, revamping the paper and making it one of the county's most popular; lieutenant-governor of Ohio, U.S. Senator from Ohio; his term in the Oval Office was ripe with corruption and scandal earning him low marks with historians, although in recent years there has been a greater recognition of him as a politician sensitive to the plight of minorities, women and labor. Autograph Document Signed "W G Harding" as president of Harding Publishing. Certificate for five shares of the Harding Publishing Company of Marion, Ohio issued to Henry R. Schaffner, Feb. 26, 1910.
