1794 Head of 1793 Large Cent. S-18b. NGC MS60 BN. One of the great rarities of early US copper. The S-18b designation can be confirmed via Liberty's doubled chin as well as the blundered N in CENTS. The lettered edge also shows the leaf after DOLLAR pointing up. Though this coin is an S-18b, one of the more common die varieties, it is nonetheless still the 6th finest known of all 1794 Head of '93 Large Cents of each variety as per the population reports of both NGC and PCGS. This example features remarkable surfaces, very smooth with few contact marks. There are some areas of spottiness on both obverse and reverse. The strike is superb however, and all details on the caramel brown obverse and espresso brown reverse are very clear, without the slightest trace of wear. A must have for any advanced collection of early US copper.
