Canada. Bon pour un pain script of Monsieur Dumoulin of Longueuil, LC (Quebec), 25 December 1794. 3 ¼ x 1 ½" script good for one loaf of bread. Pierre Dumoulin owned and operated a bakery in Longueuil in the 1780's and 1790's. He issued script in the years 1794, 1795, and 1796 on small pieces of watermarked laid paper. At the time of his death in 1796, a total sum of 10 Pounds 3 Shillings and 2 Pence were claimed against his estate for notes held by the seigneur of Longueuil, Alexander Grant. Less than 100 pieces of Dumoulin script have survived, and this appears to be the only known script from 1794 for 1 loaf. Extremely rare. Ink is fading but still legible, decent paper integrity. VG-About Fine.
