Slavery, Alabama. Trio of documents: Wilcox Co., 1828 -- Receipt, on folio, for receipt of slaves from the estate of Josiah Jordan deceased "Luiz, George, Fanny, Celia, Ben, Alice, Patience, Jerry and Sam"; Lawrence Co., Sept. 15, 1831 -- "against the goods of Samuel Douglass + Hanna Jones…has been levied by the Sheriff of the said county…a negro woman named Harriet about twenty two years old as the property of said Douglass…" (some edge nibbling does not affect text); Wilcox Co., 1848 -- Petition, to defray debt of Archibald K. Smith deceased, leave to sell all estate [of which there is no real estate] of every nature and description…remaining in species or that can be converted into money". About Very Good-Very Good. [3]
