Harrison, William Henry. Ninth President of the United States (March-April, 1841). Began his military career serving in Cincinnati in the Northwest Territory during the Northwest Indian War. Gained national fame in 1811 for leading U.S. forces against Tecumseh's Native American confederacy at the Battle of Tippecanoe; served as general in the War of 1812, as Governor of Indian Territory and U.S. representative and senator from Ohio. Harrison's presidential tenure was the shortest in history for he died after only one month in office from complications resulting from pneumonia. Autograph Document Signed "Wm. H. Harrison A,d,C". Whisky Return, 8" x 3 ¾", Greenvill[e], 1 July 1794. The return is for a day's worth of whisky rations for 6 men and one woman. Wayne's victory in this battle would bring the Northwest Indian War to a successful end for the United States and it would see Harrison as one of the signatories of the Treaty of Greenville.
