Auction: 313 - Numismatic Collector's Series - Ft. Worth, TX
Lot: 1419
1914 U.S. Assay Commission Silver Medal. XF. JK AC-58, R.6. Mintage: 25. 44.5mm/48.41gms. Obv by Charles Barber - Rev by George Morgan. Obv: Leftward facing bust of Woodrow Wilson. Rev: Eagle (similar to that used on 1915 Panama Pacific Commemorative Half) perched atop central stylized banner with 1914 date, scales below, oak leaves in background; "Mint of the United States Annval Assay" on banner around. As a result of non-numismatic distribution, many assay medals, show some handling. Such is the case with the present specimen, as minor marks are evident on the surfaces with light wear on the highpoints and a small edge bruise at 1 o´clock. Deep silver-gray colored throughout. A scarce medal from this charming, albeit esoteric, numismatic segment.
