†1844 (24 Feb.) entire letter sent from Macao to Philadelphia (inadvertently addressed to Boston before being corrected) via "Messrs Baring Brothers & Co, London per Antelope to Bombay" bearing, on the reverse, a fine strike of oval forwarding agent's cachet "forwarded by/martin murray & co/bombay" in black (not recorded by Rowe), the face with "1/-" rate in red ink, a fine strike of Lombard Street Paid Maltese Cross and oval Liverpool transit datestamp and an indistinct strike of Boston "ship/6" in red. A very fine and charming cover. Long contents congratulate the writer's brother on his engagement plus some business matters and includes a short verse. Estimate £ 200-250
