Charles II, Guinea, 8.35g., 1676, elephant and castle provenance mark below fourth laureate bust facing right, carolvs.ii. dei.gratia, rev. inverted die axis, crowned cruciform shields, two pairs of cruciform interlinked C's at centre, sceptres in angles, five strings to Irish harp, date either side of crown above English shield, .mag. br.fra. et.hib rex., edge, diagonally milled (MCE 75; S.3345), a little weakly struck at centre both sides, with some light black haymarking both sides, good very fine, a rare date for this issue Estimate £1,500-2,000 provenance Purchased Baldwin 1948 for £25
