Charles II, Two Guineas, 16.71g., 1676, elephant and castle provenance mark below second laureate bust facing right, carolvs.ii. dei.gratia, rev. inverted die axis, crowned cruciform shields, two pairs of cruciform interlinked C's at centre, sceptres in angles, seven strings to Irish harp, date either side of crown above English shield, .mag. br.fra. et.hib. rex., edge, diagonally milled (MCE 38; S.3336), free of any surface marks, with an attractive red tone with full underlying mint bloom, well struck, a superb specimen, with a very well defined provenance mark, extremely fine, reverse better, very rare in this condition Estimate £3,500-4,500 provenance
