Elizabeth I, Pattern groat or medalet, 4.31g., 1601, in silver, crowned bust three-quarters left, wearing elaborate dress and ruff, vnvm a deo dvobvs svstineo, rev. crowned monogram of Elizabeth dividing date, afflictorvm conservatrix (Brown and Comber P7; BMC 8; N.2050), a most attractive struck piece, deeply toned with a superb portrait, in mint state, very rare in this condition Estimate £1,000-1,250 provenance: The ticket says "Drabble sale, 1943 lot 1100" but, unless the illustration in the Drabble catalogue is taken from a poor cast, this appears to be a much finer specimen
