Elizabeth I, Pattern Shilling, 6.04g., m.m. key, elaborate bust left with tall narrow crown and long flowing hair, elizab d g ang fr et hib regina, rev. long cross fourchée over heavily garnished shield, posvi dev adivtorem mev (Brown and Comber P4; N.2045), struck on a slightly ragged flan, otherwise very fine or better, extremely rare Estimate £1,750-2,000 provenance: Purchased Baldwin, 1949 This piece is a trial for Brown and Comber bust 7 in the silver series. In practice, no currency silver coins were struck bearing bust 7, although it is a standard portrait on the currency gold.
