Campbell R.E.), with card box of issue; British Empire Medal, Civil Division, E.II.R (William Macdonald Campbell) in box of issue; 1939-45 Star; France and Germany Star; Africa Star; Defence and War Medals, good very fine or better, with box addressed to W. Campbell M.M.; with seven related miniature awards, and a quantity of original letters and documents including National Registration Identity Card, Soldier's Service and Pay Book, Soldier's Release Book and Ministry of Pension's King's Badge,

The Recommendation states 'This N.C.O was in charge of a party of sappers ordered to construct an exit from the beach. He found the site under fire from an Machine Gun post. This he charged single handed causing the occupants to leave and killing one as he did so. He showed great coolness and determination throughout the assault phase and his example was an encouragement to all.
