An Assortment of French Uniform.
A group of uniform, mainly for cavalry and largely of the Second Empire, as follows: a Spahi officer's red Spencer, with sky-blue cuffs and seven swags of quadruple black square cord in front, black lace edging and intricate figuring in narrow black braid (partially detached), double row of gold Russia braid, indicating rank, on sleeves; a Trumpeter's Model 1854 white dolman of the Horse Artillery of the Imperial Guard, with five rows of brass buttons in front, crimson braid edging and loops of crimson cord, tricoleur braid edging to collar and cuffs, ornate backseams and red cord cap-lines terminating in flounders and tassels; a black fur busby of Hussars or Chasseurs à Cheval, with red worsted boss bearing numeral 3 in brass (lacking bag and other fittings); a pair of Light Cavalry red Pantalons Basanes circa 1874-90, with massive leather strappings to lower leg and pale blue piping in side-seams, the original Nantes manufacturer's stamp now partly over-stamped with that of L MARTIN COSTUMIER; a pair of Zouave's black, brown and yellow leather gaiters; and a copy of a lancer's M1854 jacket of the Imperial Guard, in white cloth with light blue facings and piping.
