South Africa 1877-79, one clasp, 1879 (Capt. E.T. Bainbridge. 2-21st Foot), nearly extremely fine


Colonel Edward Thomas Bainbridge (1837-1913) entered the 21st Foot as Ensign 1855, Lieutenant 1858 and made Brevet Major 1877. In the Zulu War of 1879 he took part with the 2nd Battalion of his regiment in the attack and capture of Sekukuni's Krãal and commanded its storming party on the stronghold (Mentioned in Despatches). He rose to Colonel in 1885 and retired on Half-pay in 1890.
