South Africa 1887-79, one clasp, 1878-9 (Capt. R.C. Otway. 1/13" Foot), very fine

Captain Robert Cooke Otway (1846-1920), born Long Ilchington, Warwickshire entered the 13th Foot as Ensign 1867, Lieutenant 1870 and appointed Captain 1878. He was present with the 1st Battalion of his regiment in the operations against the Sekukuni in the Transvaal, South Africa in 1878 which included the storming of Tolyanas Stadt and also in the Zulu War of 1879 including the Battle of Ulundi.
